Monkey See, Monkey ZOO

Now that Dr. Drew is back,
outings with the kids are all the more doable.

We thought we all got in free to the San Diego Zoo on the military ticket.
Turns out that only the active-duty military member gets in free.

(Note to all our friends who thought the same.)
So we paid for the rest of us to get in since we were there anyway.

Our veterinarian-to-be was trying out for a new reality show:
The Goat Whisperer.

Baby D decided he wanted in on the action.

The Koalas were cute, but seemed as lazy as the sloths.

What is it about Pandas? They were my favorite. They always are.

Come to think of it, it was a hot day.
All of the animals seemed as lazy as the sloth.

Then it was off to find more animals, big ones that live in and out of water.

Can you guess what we saw swimming in this tank?
(other than the fish)

The hippopotamuses!

Our favorite interactive animal for the day had to be the Gorilla.

Maybe because we see some resemblance- other than the physical features- the animal's attitude was quite similar to that of our children.

Do not be deceived.
I like these rare moments when K poses like an innocent, behaved child.
It's lovely to catch the image on camera
because that's often the only time I see it.

Everybody wanted to monkey around,

except for Jr.

Coolest interaction of the day

He let us know he was no longer interested in all of the day's attention.

Apparently we did not take him seriously enough,
so he changed from a side/back profile to a FULL back profile.
Get the hint humans?

Buh, Bye!

We got it. We also got our shots. Thanks for showing off. Until next time Gorilla.
